I’m sure if you’re anything like my family your refrigerator is filled with finger paintings, toddler drawings, and other cute art projects. I love having all of this art at my fingertips, however, I wish there was a more sophisticated way to display it.. Welllllllll, there is! We have figured out how to take one of our many finger paintings and turn it into something original, fantastic, and sophisticated….take a look.
Step One: Have your child paint a new picture, use one that you already have on hand, or make a shaker painting.
FYI: a shaker painting is as easy as this – tape some paper to the bottom of a container that has a lid, throw in some paintable objects like ping-pong balls/beads/dried beans/etc., squeeze in a healthy amount of paint, and after the lid is on let your little one get to shaking!
Step Two: Once the painting is dry, cut out an animal shape – in this case we used an elephant. We used some of the scrap pieces to create detail (like an ear, a tail, and an eye) – feel free to use the backside of the art for some contrast. If the paint is heavy enough it will probably be slightly saturated/the same tone as the original artwork.
Step Three: Measure a piece of white paper to fit your frame, cut it out, and glue your animal to the paper.
Step Four: Write or type your animal’s name on the white piece of paper to add some extra detail.
Step Five: Put the finished product in your frame and hang on your wall! Combine a few different animals on your child’s wall to create an adorable way of displaying their art.
When it comes to decorating…
You aren’t limited to hanging these in your children’s room! Have you thought of doing sea creatures in the bathroom? Fruits and veggies in kitchen? Or desk objects in the office?
