Summer Season Sensory Bin

What do you think about when you think of summer? I think of hot weather, cool pools, active oceans, sandy beaches, pretty flowers, warm sunshine, and sticking my toes in the backyard grass. So when creating a Summer Season Sensory Bin for my little one, I wanted to encompass all of these things…If we can’t have summer in March, why not bring summer to us, right?

I started with my Boon Lawn Drying Rack from Target (which I love) and a flower accessory for it.

Then I added my own flowers: a couple made from old bottle brushes which stood up perfectly in the grass and the other one was simply made from a popsicle stick and a flattened muffin cup liner!

Our sunshine was made from a cut up pool noodle and some orange straws – genius, right? Plus we added a homemade thermometer to show that the heat is intense during the summer season!

Finally, our ocean consists of seashells, a boat, and some sea-life from our bathtub. If I had sand on hand I would’ve added that too!

  1. This is so cute!! I have a flower accessory kit from Target that would work just perfectly. Thanks for the inspiration! My little one loves to explore sensory bins while his older bro is working on school work.
