St Pattys Day Food Aty

We gave you three shamrock painting activities to do with household objects and it was such a hit that it inspired us to find even MORE ways to get crafty with our little ones! Here you’ll find three new ways to paint your shamrocks but this time, with food. We honestly had such a great time playing with groceries that it’s on our list of activities to do for years to come.

What you’ll need:

  • Green pepper with 3 “feet”
  • A small – medium apple
  • Large marshmallows
  • Green Paint
  • Paper

Green Pepper Shamrock:

Be sure that your pepper has 3 “feet” before starting. Then, cut off the bottom of your pepper leaving a 1/2 inch to a one-inch deep edge. We also cut a small hole in the bottom so that it was easier to grab off of the paper when stamping.

Rub green paint along the cut edge of your pepper.

Apple Shamrock:

All you have to do to prepare is cut your apple in half!

Your toddler may find this a little slippery but it makes it that much more fun. We giggled a LOT.

Stamp the paper in a shamrock pattern and draw on a stem (or don’t – haha) – either way, this makes a really big good lookin’ clover.

Marshmallow Clover:

Our final food painting gets pretttty messy but it kept my toddler’s attention the longest. After all, children love a good mess don’t they?

We simply dipped our large marshmallow in some green paint and stamped it in a triangular pattern on paper.

My little one ended up losing interest in the painting itself and had more fun pulling the food apart. It got super sticky but his reaction was priceless, plus he had webbed fingers – so fun!

Choose to add little stems if you would like and hang on the wall! This makes a great placemat for a special St. Patrick’s Day dinner as well!
