As we learn colors and shapes over the next few weeks in our Teaching Toddlers series, I wanted to find an easy way to sort these things into categories. We have placed colored objects on their matching colored paper, we have sorted with our Toddler Tube Drop, and we have played with our shapes sorter toy but I wanted to introduce something new! I’m all about simple projects and this couldn’t be any easier..
What You’ll Need:
- Construction Paper
- Colored Straws (cut into thirds or fourths)
- Rubber Cement
- Small Muffin Tin
All you have to do is cut construction paper to fit in the bottom of your tin, use rubber cement to secure it, cut up your straws and get to sorting! It couldn’t get much easier.
BONUS: We used different sized straws and my babe loved to put the littler ones through the fat ones. I mean loved it. Hours of play!
This sorting tin can be used to sort colored objects, colored magnetic letters, pom-poms, and so much more. If you are looking to sort shapes, try cutting some out of construction paper and glue to your tins instead of colored circles. Get creative! P.S. We have some more sorting activities that we think you should check out..look here, here, and here.
